This special technique was developed by our Nurse who understands and specializes in post-operative care, tissue healing process, post op trauma, and complications associated with any surgery.
Point Stretch Technique is used to detect and effectively addresses any scarring, fibrosis, hardening, that may be present after any surgery/injury internally or externally. It involves a very precise palpation (touching) of the tissue and effectively treating hard scarred fibers. Point Stretch Technique involves scar re-directing and “holding deeper” into the scar for a specific period of time (depending on the scar maturity). Once the scar tissue is detected, an assessment of ”the scar’s direction,” (aka the way the scar was formed), plays a significant role in the treatment as well. The scar’s fibers may have many different directions (vertical, horizontal, diagonal), as the injury site is trying to heal, therefore a precise assessment, and meticulous treatment is crucial.
There should be no mechanical tools and/or equipment used during the recovery period, as those may contribute to further scarring formation.
Point Stretch Technique also detects and effectively addresses any issues such as localized swelling/edema, bruising, fibrosis, scarring, fat deposits, fluid pockets, and seroma. In the case of liposuction, any lumpiness or unevenness that appears in the aftermath may also be reduced.
During surgery, the skin becomes significantly detached from the underlying tissue. If the scar treatment is too aggressive, it can prevent the skin from re-attaching properly, and can lead to other serious complications. It is crucial to be licensed, certified, and qualified for this type of care.
This treatment may be highly effective when paired with other, similarly beneficial techniques and treatments. Such treatments are Medi Taping for skin lift, TK Taping for fibrosis prevention, InfraRed Light Recovery, LED Scar Treatment, Radio Frequency Skin Tightening, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber.
We highly recommend a Fractional Co2 laser treatment for surface scarring to be delivered 6-8 months after the scar tissue formation.
Point Stretch Technique also decreases post-surgery discomfort, pain, anxiety, and body PTSD. While a surgery is inherently associated with outward results, there is often tremendous internal trauma to the body that needs to be treated carefully.
It is our pleasure to schedule a consultation with you prior to your surgery and help ease your concerns about your post-op recovery
